Working Together: My Approach

Life can feel overwhelming at times, whether you're dealing with anxiety, depression, grief, low self-esteem, body image concerns, identity challenges, or confidence issues. I’m here to offer the support you need. Having experienced the profound impact of counselling myself, I understand how transformative it can be in building resilience and offering a safe space to navigate life’s challenges. Speaking to someone who truly listens, without judgment, is one of the most powerful forms of self-care.

My approach is down to earth and compassionate. At the heart of my practice is person-centred counselling, which means I focus on creating a safe, non-judgmental environment where you feel comfortable sharing whatever is on your mind. Together, we’ll work toward a deeper understanding of yourself, allowing you to move forward with greater confidence and insight.

If you’ve made it this far, you might be thinking about taking that first step towards therapy, and I know how intimidating that can feel. I’m here to support you every step of the way.

If you have any questions or would like to learn more about the counselling process, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’d be happy to help you take that first step on your journey.

How can Counselling Help me?

Improve your communication skills: Finding the words to express how you are feeling to others can help to improve and strengthen relationships. In turn this can help you to establish personal boundaries and feel more confident in communicating your wants and needs.

Build self-esteem: Our self-esteem is often formed and influenced by the messages that we receive about ourselves from the people around us and our past experiences. Counselling can allow you to identify the root of your feelings, and start to challenge negative thoughts that are impacting the view you have of yourself.

Process past events: My goal as a counsellor is to create a safe, confidential and non-judgmental space to allow for you to explore and understand your past experiences. Through guided conversations, new perspectives can be found, and the impact of these events on your present thoughts, feelings and behaviours can be considered.

Improve emotional literacy: Sometimes it’s hard to know exactly how we are feeling, especially if we haven’t connected with that part of ourselves before, or maybe haven’t ever been asked! Counselling can act as a space to identify your emotions, and the impact they have on your body and your behaviours.

Why Rosebay?

I created Rosebay Counselling after being inspired by the resilience of the Rosebay plant. This flower is known for thriving in areas that have faced extreme and challenging conditions, which resonates deeply with many people beginning their therapy journey—striving to grow and flourish despite difficult pasts or experiences.

Counselling can be a powerful tool for building resilience and thriving after periods of stress or hardship. It offers a safe, non-judgmental space to reflect on past experiences, identify patterns or triggers, and work through traumas or present difficulties. Through therapy, individuals can develop a stronger sense of self, learn to adapt to change, and cultivate the emotional resilience needed to overcome future challenges.

Frequently asked questions...

When do you have available appointments?

I am passionate about being accessible in terms of appointment times. Life is busy, and I know when I researched starting my own counselling journey, I found it hard to fit another weekly appointment in around so many other commitments. It is important to find the best appointment time that works for you. Because of this I offer a range of appointment times, including early morning and evening appointments online and in-person.

What if I need to cancel?

I understand that life can get hectic at times, and cancellations may happen. Cancellations made with more than 48 hours notice will not require payment. Sessions cancelled after this time will require full payment before the following session. This is to keep your slot available.

What if I don’t know what to say?

This is such a common worry when first coming to therapy. In fact, I remember asking myself the same thing. It’s OK if you aren’t sure where to start, or how to explain how you are feeling. Maybe you’re not quite sure what’s wrong, but you know that something doesn’t feel right. We can take each session week by week, and I have a variety of resources to help prompt reflection whenever you feel ready.

Get in touch

Please contact me using the form below if you would like to have a chat about how counselling works, or to ask about booking an introductory chat.

To find out my latest availability it is best to contact me with some days/times that you have in mind. We can then work together to find a slot that suits you.

Fees & availability

Counselling sessions are 50 minutes long, and generally take place on a weekly basis. I charge £50 for these sessions, and I have a few concession rates available in certain circumstances that I am happy to discuss.

I understand that life gets busy, and because of this, I want to ensure that my practice remains as flexible as possible. I do this by offering a variety of appointment times, including evening and early morning sessions. After contacting me we can book a free 20-minute telephone/online appointment, where we can meet briefly, and I can answer any questions that you have.

This appointment will allow us to chat and you can consider whether you feel that I am the right counsellor for you. After this, you might like to book in for our first appointment, and the journey begins!
